With a background in theatre, Samantha had always loved to act but really wanted to develop her screen acting technique and knowledge. With a young family the digital diploma offered the perfect opportunity to combine her passion and dream around her busy home life.

I had attended a few workshops with YAFTA in 2017 and found the content and pace really enjoyable. Being able to read through scripts and perform short pieces during the workshops with feedback from professionals in the industry added weight to the experience. I decided that when the time came to dedicate more time to the learning about the profession, YAFTA would be my choice for education. 

Having a young family, being at home during sessions really appealed to me.  I also felt that during Covid times, I was actually gaining so much from other Zoom and online sessions that surely this could be a way forward for developing my acting skills. 

I completed A level Performing Arts and Media Studies at a local college to me. 

The first class was very involved from the off with full engagement with scripts and filming which was a nice surprise. We also had introductory activities which was really beneficial, allowing us to get to know each other. There really is a wide range of characters in the class with varying life experiences and occupations. 

I enjoy all the sessions because each teacher brings something new to the table. Taking on board their session content, advice and feedback is so beneficial for my development. 

I'm learning more about myself! With my background being in theatre, I am enjoying learning about the different techniques applied to screen. 

Absolutely beyond my expectations! 

Already in a short time frame of 6 weeks I am seeing a change in myself. The course is equipping me with essential tools for screen performance and I need to slowly take all of this learning on board and apply it to the future sessions as I go. 

Yes, just how useful Zoom can be especially in relation to recordings not just the delivery. I feel alive and excited on my class days. I can't wait to log into class and start learning. Highlight of my week.
