How long have you been acting and with YAFTA Talent Agency?
I’ve been acting as long as I can remember – professionally though, I would say between a year and a half and two years, since I finished my degree in Archaeology (bit of a change haha).
What do you love about the industry?
I love that it enables me to actually do what I love the most. I love the people you meet whilst working, all so passionate and filled with life, especially when you meet those people that are just so grateful that they get to do this wonderful thing called acting!
What are the key skills/attributes you think someone needs to work in the industry?
I think you need to be resilient – there are lots of knockbacks and if you take these to heart and get upset by each one, you’re going to be pretty miserable. Part of this I think is really having a passion and desire for this and knowing that no matter what, this is what you want to do.
What advice would you give someone looking to get into film and TV acting?
Just go for it. Kind of related to my previous answer, if this is truly what you want, you have to decide that no matter what this is your only option – it might take you 50 years to get where you want to be and start earning from this, but if it is what you really love, then that won’t matter because you’re getting to do what you enjoy anyway. Screw feeling self-conscious etc!
Which film or TV episodes would you choose to a) Watch on repeat b) See for the first time c) Wouldn’t watch again?
a) Call Me By Your Name – I just think it is the most beautiful film: story, cinematography, everything about it, and that final scene.
b) I still haven’t watched A Star Is Born or Bohemian Rhapsody – need to see them asap
c) Might be a bit of a cheat, but I couldn’t watch all of Split again (even though I think James McAvoy is incredible in it) – it just disturbed me way too much…I still have nightmares.
