SPOTLIGHT ACCREDITED
ACTING FOR SCREEN DIPLOMA

The YAFTA Acting for Screen Diploma is an 18-month, blended learning course. The diploma has been designed for those with little or no experience of screen acting who wish to undertake intensive training to equip them with the necessary tools and experience to progress from beginner to professional screen actor within 18 months. Students will have the unique opportunity to work directly with TV directors who are looking to help YAFTA students secure their first TV role.

YAFTA’s 18 month diploma course is a Spotlight accredited programme. This means that upon successful completion of this course, you will be eligible to join Spotlight.

STRUCTURED SYLLABUS

Our students follow a structured syllabus which has been designed by a team of graduates from the world’s top drama schools including; RADA, LAMDA, Central School of Speech and Drama, ALRA and LIPA, and Occupational and Business Psychologists who specialise in assessment and selection, specifically, the design and delivery of examination processes.

COURSE OBJECTIVE
To develop those with identified potential from beginner to professional working actor within 18 months. To equip students with the necessary skills, knowledge and tools to enable them to work as professional actors.
BLENDED LEARNING

This is a blended learning course requiring 3 full contact days per month, which run on either Saturday, Sunday, Monday or Tuesday at our studio in Leeds. Each cohort will attend on the same day for the first three weeks of every month. In addition to the contact hours, there is a distance learning aspect of the course, an experiential component and a mentoring programme which must be completed.

In March 2020 we launched a structure which makes the diploma course more accessible for those who travel long distances to attend. This course will require attendance over a full long weekend per month rather than weekly.

CERTIFICATIONS

Throughout the course, students will work on developing their craft as well as their industry skills knowledge and experience. Students will be required to pass the YAFTA Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced Certifications in Screen Acting to be able to achieve the full diploma award.

In addition to this, students will be mentored throughout the course. Your mentor will guide you through the industry aspects of the course to ensure that you are Spotlight ready upon completion of the course. You mentor will advise you of the next steps that you need to take throughout the course to enable you to start working as a professional actor.
