What is your current day job and role with YAFTA?
I am an actor and director. At YAFTA I am an acting tutor.
What was your first job in the industry, was the acting industry always the plan?
My first professional job in the acting industry was as young James Hook in the musical “Peter”. Acting wasn’t always the plan, I joined the scouts from a young age and I actually wanted to be a police officer, but that quickly faded after my scout classes were closed down. I had to find a new hobby and ended up at stage school.
What is your favourite/best TV moment?
For me you can choose any moment from the acclaimed BBC drama Sherlock. The show and cast is magnificent.
What one piece of advice would you give to those starting out in the industry?
If I was going to give a piece of advice to someone starting in the industry I’d tell the person to manage their expectations. Be realistic with yourself but never give up.
Your biggest asset you have as an actor is yourself, so always be you.
If you could invite three dinner party guests from the world of screen – dead or alive, who would it be?
My three dinner guests would be Victoria Wood, Oliver Reed & Robert De Niro. (What a night!)
