MEISNER TECHNIQUE WORKSHOP

COMING SOON

Topics covered and learning outcomes:

Inspired by Stanislavski, Sanford Meisner developed his own actor training technique that retained ‘given circumstances’, but rejected sense memory.

Instead, Meisner wanted spontaneity and instinctive actors.

The Meisner Technique masterclass will give students a taste of this  legendary teacher’s actor training technique.

Students will learn how to:

  • Work through and release self-consciousness
  • Make a part their own, whether this be well-known classical roles or contemporary parts
  • Live truthfully under imaginary circumstances
  • Prepare emotionally for a part
  • Act in the moment
  • Expand their acting range

Through partner work, students will learn how to listen to their fellow actors and react accordingly. Through learning how to move attention from themselves to a partner, students develop their own characters in a deeper and more meaningful way.

We will also work with Meisner’s famous Word Repetition Game and expand skills for sight-reading and text analysis.

Date: Saturday 9th April
